Nightshift Dispatcher – Metro Containers (Christchurch)

Hilton Haulage is seeking an organised and confident Nightshift Dispatcher to join our Metro Containers team based in Hillsborough, Christchurch. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe and efficient scheduling and dispatching of Swinglift and Skelle trucks across the South Island.

The Role

As our Nightshift Dispatcher, you will be responsible for:

• Scheduling and allocating daily work for Swinglift and Skelle units
• Monitoring workloads, resource availability, and job allocation
• Ensuring efficient utilisation of people and equipment
• Maintaining strong communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams
• Supporting operational compliance and upholding company processes

Success in this role requires a calm, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

Work Pattern

Sunday to Thursday, 4:00pm – 4:00am
Full‑time, permanent role.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
• Confidence coordinating teams and managing real‑time workflow changes
• A focus on service delivery and maintaining strong customer relationships
• An understanding of transport compliance and the importance of process
• A commitment to safety and leading by example
• Experience in dispatching, scheduling, or transport operations (preferred)
• Good knowledge of New Zealand geography (advantageous)

This is a hands‑on operational role, so exposure to the transport industry is beneficial, but training can be provided for the right person.
