Forklift Operator

We are currently seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join the stores team at our Washdyke site in Timaru.

The Role

Key tasks include the loading and unloading of trucks, pick-up and put-away of product into store, and general store/yard tasks.  In addition, this role occasionally delivers goods to local businesses and assists with other yard work as required.

The position will see you working a minimum of 80 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, although due to the nature of the operation and during peak season there will be a requirement to work weekends when required.  Whilst the role will predominantly be based at our Washdyke site, there may be times when the successful applicant will be required to work out of our other Timaru based stores.  Hilton Haulage is experiencing rapid growth, so this would be an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who wants to climb the career ladder.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have great communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team.  Reliability is a given, as is the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Experience in a Stores environment is preferred and those with the ability to use initiative and follow instructions well with be viewed favourably.  An F-endorsement and OSH certificate are preferred, however we are can also support the right candidate to obtain these.

Previous experience operating 7 tonne forklifts and/or loaders would be an advantage. Applicants must be physically fit and capable of carrying out manual labour as some heavy lifting is required from time to time.
