The role:
We’re on the lookout for experienced Class 5 Drivers to join our skilled and energetic Hastings team, specifically to fill the following positions:
- Flat deck / container operator
- Swinglift operator
You’ll be working alongside a professional crew that values safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Day-to-day tasks:
- Represent Hilton Haulage professionally – you’re the face of our business
- Comply with all health & safety related rules, policies, procedures and directions given by the Employer and/or customer – Health & Safety inductions are required for all customer sites.
- Participate as a member of the driving team, completing all work as assigned and assisting other drivers as required – attending Toolbox meetings, pre-start inspection checks, and ensuring your vehicle is maintained to a high standard.
- Work carefully and drive defensively to ensure your own safety, and the safety of others, driving in a manner that actively considers factors such as weight limits, hazardous materials regulations, weather and traffic conditions.
Work pattern:
This position is primarily Monday–Friday, with weekend work as required. As with any transport role, flexibility is expected to support business and seasonal demands. The role also includes out-of-town travel over all of NZ including Auckland and S Island, overnight stays, interisland ferry trips, depending on customer requirements.
What you will bring to the table:
- Minimum 2 years’ Class 5 driving experience
- F & W Endorsements
- OSH Certification
- Relevant experience operating a flat deck or Swinglift.
- A track record of going above and beyond for customers – we’d love to hear your examples
- Strong teamwork skills – what’s the best team you’ve worked with?
- Ability to quickly pick up new technology – tell us about something new you mastered
- Must be willing to work away from home when requested.
- Must be capable of travelling to Auckland upon request.
- Must be able to undertake travel that includes ferry crossing.
